Frequently Asked Questions: Cisco Certification Exam Pricing Adjustment
What is the effect of the exam pricing changes on exam candidates?
Effective June 20, 2014, candidates registering for exams will be charged the new pricing above.
Will candidates who are currently registered to take exams be affected by this price increase?
No. Candidates who are already registered will not be affected by the price increase, nor will candidates already registered who want to change the date and/or time of their registration.
What if a candidate cancels and then reschedules an exam after the June 20, 2014 adjustment date? Will they be affected?
Yes. Candidates who cancel their registration and plan to reschedule at a later date will be affected if they schedule an exam for a date/time on or after June 20th.
What about the effect of the pricing changes on CCIE lab candidates?
-
Candidates who have already registered for an exam less than 90 days from June 20, 2014 will already have paid for their CCIE lab and will not be affected by the price change.
-
Candidates registering after June 20, 2014, regardless of whether the exam is 90 days away (in which case they are charged immediately) or greater than 90 days in the future (in which case they will be charged 90 days before their lab date), will be charged the new price.
-
Candidates who are currently registered for a CCIE lab exam more than 90 days from June 20, 2014, but who entered a credit card at registration to be charged 90 days before their exam, will be charged the current price. However, if payment fails (such as because of credit card issues, insufficient funds, “do not honor,” etc.), they will need to reschedule and pay the new price.
-
Candidates on the schedule greater than 90 days in the future, who have not entered a credit card, will be charged the new price when they access the system to set up their payment.

Will there be any changes to prepaid vouchers that have not been redeemed?
Prepaid vouchers that were purchased before the date of the price adjustments will be honored until their expiration date. Prepaid vouchers that are purchased after the price adjustment date will be priced at the new level.
Will exam vouchers still be able to be used?
Yes, eligible vouchers will continue to apply to exam fees, subject to the specific terms, conditions, and expiration date of each voucher.
Can exam discount vouchers be applied to the new exam prices?
If your customer has a Cisco certification exam discount voucher or promotional code, it is still valid for the dates that were stated in the initial promotion. The discount amount can be applied during the exam registration process. The discount is deducted from the price of the exam at the time of registration. The exam discount voucher or promotional code must be valid (not expired).

Why does Cisco change exam prices?
To maintain growth and competitiveness, Cisco continues to make strong investments in the content and integrity of its certification and training and to expand into new IT areas. For these reasons, it is adjusting prices for its Specialist/Technical and Professional exams, as well as for its Expert-level CCIE and CCDE written and practical lab exams.
Does Cisco plan to increase prices for any other certification exams?
Cisco does not plan any other price increases for certification exams at this time.
Why is Cisco changing the foreign exchange rate?
The exchange rate between the U.S. dollar and other major currencies fluctuates; Cisco is adjusting the rate to reflect the changes in each currency’s foreign exchange in order to align rates with the U.S. base pricing.
